On Tuesday, 16 November 2010, the Mediterranean Diet was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Its inclusion in the Representative List is important, not just for recognition of the importance of this dietary model and the history and tradition it reflects, but also because the Community of Koroni was the one chosen to represent Greece in the cross-border candidacy for inclusion of the Mediterranean Diet in the UNESCO Representative List.
