The Maniatakeion Foundation in cooperation with the Hellenic Folklore Research Centre of the Academy of Athens is organizing a musical performance “Koroni in History And Legend Through Music And Literature” on Friday, August 27th, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Holy Shrine of Panagia Eleistria at the castle of Koroni.

The Maniatakeion Foundation in cooperation with the Hellenic Folklore Research Centre of the Academy of Athens is organizing a musical performance “Koroni in History And Legend Through Music And Literature” on Friday, August 27th, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Holy Shrine of Panagia Eleistria at the castle of Koroni. The event will take us through time and provide an overview of the history of Koroni through European musical and literary works. Each of Koroni's historical periods, ancient, byzantine, Venetian Occupation, Turkish Occupation and modern times will be presented audiovisually. It should be noted that some of the musical works will be heard for the first time ever in Greece. Dr. John Plemmenos, Research Fellow of the Academy of Athens has organized and will be presenting the event. Among the performers will be distinguished musicians as well as the choir of Society of Cantors of Messenia in Kalamata. Prominent actors will be reading excerpts from literary and hymnographic works related to Koroni. Admission is free.
